Work with me

Got a football project? Let’s have a look.

Touchline started with me writing about football, but I do a fair bit beyond the articles too. Research, strategy, scouting, content, graphics — basically the sort of football work where it helps to properly dig into something rather than just skim the surface.

WHAT I CAN HELP WITH

A few things I’m always interested in.

I’m not trying to turn Touchline into some massive consultancy. But if you’ve got a football project, a problem that needs looking at properly or an idea you want to build out, I’m always happy to chat.

01

Club strategy & research

Squad audits, recruitment work, competitor research, club structure and the football-business side of things. If there’s a decision to be made, I like getting into the detail behind it.

02

Football writing

Features, analysis and collaborations for publications, clubs or anyone looking for something with a bit more depth than simply repeating what happened at the weekend.

03

Content & creative

Graphics, social content, campaigns and ideas around how clubs tell their story. Football content should actually feel like football, not something that could have been made for any brand in the world.

04

Collaborations

I’m always open to working with photographers, journalists, publications, clubs or other football projects. If there’s a good idea there, send it over and we can see where it goes.

HOW I WORK

Keep it useful.

I like work that actually gives somebody something at the end of it — a better decision, a clearer picture of a player or club, a stronger idea, or a story people genuinely want to read.

Sometimes that means going through data. Sometimes it means researching how another club does things. Sometimes it’s taking a half-formed idea and figuring out what the interesting bit actually is. It really depends on the project.

I don’t have a big price list sitting here because the jobs can be completely different. Tell me what you’re thinking and I’ll be straight with you about what makes sense.

Football firstIf it doesn’t make sense to people who actually care about the game, there isn’t much point.
Do the diggingI’d rather spend the time finding the useful detail than dress up something fairly obvious.
No one-size-fits-all packageWe work out what the project actually needs and go from there.
Got something in mind?

Send it my way.

Research, strategy, a piece, a graphic, a club project or something completely different. Drop me a message with what you’re working on and we’ll see if I can help.
